Palliative Care

Here at Hospital Picaso, we aim to improve the quality of life and well-being of patients suffering life-limiting illnesses through our Palliative Care services. Palliative Care is a specialised field of medicine that focuses on providing relief from the symptoms, side effects, and stress of serious illness with the goal of improving comfort and quality of life for both the patient and their family members.

Palliative Care is a multidisciplinary team effort and at Hospital Picaso, this patient/family-centred care is jointly provided by our Palliative Care Physician, Oncologist (for cancer patients), Dietitians, nurses, and other professionals such as counsellors and spiritual advisors where necessary. We strive to help patients live as fully as possible and support them and their family members/caregivers with the personalised care they deserve.

Symptom Management/Relief

Life-limiting illnesses and even the side effects of their treatments are usually accompanied by symptoms such as pain, fatigue, and a variety of other symptoms that may lead to stress and depression. Various forms of relief such as medication, therapy, and guidance may be provided according to the patient’s needs.

Support Groups

It is important for patients and even their family members to understand they are not alone in this fight. We strive to connect patients and caregivers with support groups and communities that can offer much-needed support.

Spiritual Support

Religion and faith play a big part in the lives of many patients and families. We can help facilitate patients’ spiritual needs through support from religious leaders and communities.

Education

Education and guidance on end-of-life care will be provided to patients and family members/caregivers that align with their wishes and values.

We are constantly upgrading our Palliative Care services here at Hospital Care and are expecting to provide home care services in the future.
