Dr Farhana Fadzli

About the Doctor

Dr Farhana Fadzli is Head of Breast Imaging and Head of Nuclear Medicine at Hospital Picaso, where she practises as a Consultant Breast Radiologist and Nuclear Medicine Specialist. Her dual expertise supports patients throughout their care journey, from breast screening and early diagnosis through to staging, treatment planning and response assessment.

With a strong focus on comprehensive breast imaging, Dr Farhana provides 3D mammography (digital breast tomosynthesis), contrast-enhanced mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and advanced image-guided breast interventions. She also optimises biopsy workflows, helping patients progress efficiently from an abnormal finding to tissue diagnosis and onward care. Her clinical interests include early breast cancer detection, complex or uncertain findings, and aligning imaging with pathology and surgical planning. Beyond breast imaging, her expertise in PET/CT, molecular imaging and theranostics, including targeted radionuclide therapies, further supports patients across diagnosis and treatment.

Her clinical practice is complemented by an extensive academic and research background. Before joining Hospital Picaso, Dr Farhana spent 17 years at Universiti Malaya, rising from Senior Lecturer to Associate Professor in Biomedical Imaging. She holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (UK) and completed a Breast Imaging Fellowship at University Malaya Medical Centre in 2019. She has over 30 PubMed-indexed publications on breast screening, risk, mammographic density and advanced imaging, including research involving collaborators across 22 countries. This experience continues to inform her evidence-based approach to patient care.

Dr Farhana also plays an active role in advancing the field of radiology in Malaysia. She is President of both the College of Radiology, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, and the Malaysian Society of Radiologists for the 2025–2027 term. She also leads the College’s Molecular Imaging Special Interest Group.

Alongside her clinical, academic and professional roles, Dr Farhana places particular importance on helping patients feel informed and supported throughout their care. She understands the anxiety that can accompany breast screening, symptoms, uncertain findings or a cancer diagnosis. She reviews each investigation carefully, explains findings clearly and works closely with breast surgeons, oncologists, pathologists and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Whether attending routine screening, investigating a symptom or undergoing treatment, patients receive a careful assessment, clear answers and a well-coordinated plan for what comes next.
