Cardio-Oncology (Specialised Care for Cancer Patients)
Cancer survival has improved over the years due to newer and more effective forms of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. However, while treating cancer, some life-saving therapies can potentially affect the heart. This may occur not only during treatment, but also years after treatment has been completed, especially in patients who are already at risk of heart disease. Heart-related complications are usually minor and can often be managed with appropriate screening and treatment, although they can sometimes be more severe.
The goal of our Cardio-Oncology Centre is to support your cancer treatment journey through closer monitoring of your heart health, while also providing long-term follow-up care by a Cardiologist for selected patients.
We utilise state-of-the-art technology for earlier detection and closer surveillance to help prevent or minimise the effects of cancer treatment on the heart, while maintaining the beneficial outcomes of your cancer therapy.
What We Treat

Our cardio-oncology services support patients at various stages of cancer treatment who have, or are at risk of, heart disease. Our services include the evaluation and treatment of patients who:
- are about to begin cancer treatment and have risk factors for heart disease.
- are undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy and develop potential cardiac-related symptoms such as breathlessness, weakness or fatigue, swelling of the legs and feet, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, and/or dizziness. These symptoms may have different causes, but a cardiac assessment is recommended.
- have previously undergone cancer treatment and develop new cardiac problems.
- have undergone radiation therapy in the past and may require specialised cardiac follow-up and treatment.
Our Approach to Care
Our multidisciplinary team provides a comprehensive and coordinated approach to managing heart health in cancer patients:
- Comprehensive Diagnostics
We utilise a full range of imaging modalities, including advanced transthoracic echocardiography and state-of-the-art Cardiac MRI technology, to detect early signs of heart problems. We also provide Cardiac CT and heart rhythm monitoring when indicated. - Integrated Medical Management
Our cardiologists and oncologists work closely together to tailor your cancer treatment plan, optimising treatment dosages and schedules to best suit your individual needs. - Long-term Cardiovascular Support
We provide continuous monitoring during and after treatment. As cardiotoxicity may develop years later, our long-term follow-up ensures early detection and timely intervention.
